eTIPS Frequently Asked Questions

How much does eTIPS cost?

The cost is $40 per person.

Can multiple people take eTIPS on the same computer at the same time?

No. eTIPS is intended as a single user course, so multiple people cannot take eTIPS at the same time on the same computer.

Can multiple people use the same computer to take eTIPS?

Yes. It is possible for different people to use the same computer to take eTIPS at different times. Each participant should completely log out of the system before the next participant attempts to register or log in on that computer.

How long do I have to complete the course?

Participants have 30 days from the time they register to complete the course. Within the 30-day window, participants can log out and log back in to return to where they left off. The only exception is the final certification exam at the end of the course. Participants MUST complete the certification exam in one sitting. After 30 days the course will be reset and all progress to that point will be lost.

How do I return to an eTIPS Course?

After you exit the course, you may return with the following instructions:

  1. Go to http://www.gettips.com/eTIPS.shtml.
  2. Click the Return to Course button.
  3. Enter your username (email address or full name) and password.
  4. Click the Login button.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to launch the course.

When I try to log in, I receive the error message: "The information you entered could not be validated." I know I entered my email address and password correctly. What happened?

First, ensure that the login information you entered is correct. Passwords are NOT case sensitive, but sometimes the capital letter O and zero (0) appear similar. Your login username is the email address used when you registered for the course. If your browser prepopulated any login information, manually enter the information again. Login information is often incorrectly prepopulated by your browser. If you continue to receive this error, call 800-438-8477, ext. 600 for assistance.

How can I review my certification after taking the class?

To view your certification records:

  1. Login using the URL: http://www.gettips.com/mobile/index.html#cert . You will be sent directly to the Certifications page where you can expand the items listed to see details regarding your certification.
  2. Or, login using the URL: http://www.gettips.com/mobile/index.html. Then select the Certifications icon to view your certification records.

How can I see my course completion certificate?

When you complete the course, a temporary certificate of completion is generated for you to view or print. To view or print your certificate of completion later:

  1. Go to https://www.gettips.com/mobile/index.html#docs.
  2. Log in using your username (email address or full name) and password.
  3. Click the Login button.
  4. Select the Documents icon.
  5. Expand the Participant Documents section to display your completion certificate(s).
  6. Click the book icon to show the certificate in another browser window.

I just completed the course. When will I receive my certification card?

Please allow 7-10 business days.

I failed the course. What happens next?

You are entitled to one free retake of the course and certification exam. We will create a new registration for you and email you with instructions for accessing the course.

I had to leave the course or exam before finishing, or my computer stopped working. What happens next?

Simply log out, or close your internet browser windows. Your course progress should be automatically saved. To return to the course:

  1. Go to http://www.gettips.com/mobile/index.html#reg.
  2. Enter your username (email address or full name) and password.
  3. Click the Login button.
  4. Click the name of the course to expand the section if it is not already expanded.
  5. Then, click the Take Class button.

Upon launching the course, I receive the error message: "Your Course is Open in Another Window."

This issue sometimes occurs if you lose internet connectivity while in the course. This issue usually resolves itself in about 20 minutes, so if this happens, log out and then relaunch the course after an appropriate amount of time has passed. If you still receive this message, or would like to have immediate access to the course, call 800-438-8477, ext. 600 for assistance.

I have lost all of my course progress. What do I do?

eTIPS courses are designed to continually store your progress. However, in rare cases, you might lose access and the course will reset. If this happens, call 800-438-8477, ext. 600 and we can usually restore your session progress. Be sure to recall the section of the course you were in and the last screen you viewed so that we can verify your progress.

My cursor disappeared from the screen, what should I do?

In some cases a slow or lagging network connection can cause the cursor to disappear. The cursor will usually return within a minute or two. If it does not, try refreshing your browser window. If that doesn't work, close your browser window and then follow the emailed instructions on how to return to your course. If you still experience issues, call 800-438-8477, ext. 600 for assistance.

I paid for my course but it is not listed in my TIPS Training Portal.

This happens when a user has multiple logins for our website. Log out, verify the username and password provided in the most recent email you received from us, and then try logging in again. Your course should be available. If you are still unable to find your course, call 800-438-8477, ext. 600 for assistance.

How long does the course take?

Depending on the user and the course jurisdiction, the course can take anywhere from 3 to 4 hours to complete. Users can log out and return to the course at any time before starting the exam. Upon returning, the course will resume from the point at which the user logged out. The exam must be taken in one sitting.

How do I order multiple eTIPS sessions?

We recommend purchasing eTIPS Pre-Paid Passports. eTIPS Pre-Paid Passports offer establishments, corporations, and organizations the flexibility of pre-ordering eTIPS registrations. For every passport purchased, we will send you a unique registration code with instructions on how to access the course. eTIPS Pre-Paid Passports offer:
